Millwright – Eastern Cape
Stratogo is currently representing a plastics manufacturing facility in Gqeberha that is looking for a skilled and dedicated Millwright – Eastern Cape to join their engineering and maintenance team. In this permanent role, you will play a critical part in ensuring maximum plant availability by performing expert fault-finding, maintenance, and optimization of mechanical and electrical equipment within a continuous production environment. Key Responsibilities
- Execute preventative, predictive, and breakdown maintenance across extrusion lines, utilities, and all ancillary equipment.
- Conduct precise mechanical and electrical diagnostics on production machinery.
- Perform advanced fault-finding on PLC-controlled systems, VSDs, motors, instrumentation, pumps, gearboxes, compressors, and conveyors.
- Maintain and repair specialized extrusion machinery, vacuum systems, and chill rolls.
- Support the installation, commissioning, and modification of new plant infrastructure and automated systems.
- Lead root cause analysis for recurring equipment issues and implement effective corrective measures.
- Maintain meticulous maintenance records and work orders to support plant compliance.
- Uphold the highest standards of workplace safety and housekeeping.
- Collaborate with production and engineering management to minimize downtime and exceed production efficiency targets.
- Participate in shift work, overtime, standby duties, and emergency breakdown call-outs as required.
Minimum Requirements
- Qualified Millwright (Trade Test/Red Seal) or an equivalent recognized artisan qualification.
- NTC3 certificate (or higher) with a focus on electrical and mechanical subjects.
- At least 5 years of industrial maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrable expertise with PLC-controlled machinery, VSDs, motors, pumps, and automated production equipment.
- Proven technical aptitude in mechanical and electrical systems.
- Strong analytical skills for identifying and resolving complex technical problems.
- Ability to interpret detailed mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation drawings.
- Experience in plastics extrusion, sheet manufacturing, chemical processing, or continuous process industries is highly advantageous.
- Computer literacy and familiarity with CMMS systems are beneficial.
- Formal training in Siemens PLC and industrial automation will be viewed as a strong advantage.
