Transnet
As the custodian of South Africa’s ports, rail, and pipeline infrastructure, Transnet’s objective is to deliver a globally competitive freight system that supports sustained economic growth and diversification. Our role is central to enabling efficient trade and strengthening the country’s position in regional and global markets.
Transnet 4.0 Strategy
Transnet is transitioning from its Market Demand Strategy, which focused on accelerated capital investment, to the Transnet 4.0 Strategy. This new approach is designed to reposition both Transnet and the national freight system for competitiveness in a fast-changing, technology-driven environment shaped by the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
The strategy’s primary growth drivers include geographic expansion, product and service innovation, diversification, and the expansion of Transnet’s manufacturing capabilities. A key focus is on increasing the connectivity, density, and capacity of the integrated port, rail, and pipeline network.
Growth and Operational Excellence
The Transnet 4.0 Strategy aims to grow Transnet into a R100 billion business through strong organic growth across its freight transport and handling divisions. Central to this ambition is a continued focus on improving operational efficiency and reliability in order to expand market share.
Ongoing capital investment to modernise port, rail, and pipeline infrastructure remains a priority, alongside the continuous development of our people to ensure long-term sustainability and performance.
Impact on Society
As a state-owned company, Transnet plays a vital role in the daily lives of South Africans. With a nationwide footprint, the organisation is deeply embedded in nearly every aspect of economic and social life across the country.
Through the Transnet Foundation, our corporate social investment arm, we support a wide range of programmes that provide meaningful assistance to communities, contributing time, resources, and funding to initiatives that address critical social needs.
Our Purpose
Our aim is clear: to harness the power of our people and technology to build a brighter future for millions across the African continent and beyond.

DHL
Founded in San Francisco more than 45 years ago, DHL has grown from a bold startup into the global market leader in international express and logistics. Established by visionary entrepreneurs Adrian Dalsey, Larry Hillblom and Robert Lynn, DHL has consistently expanded its reach and capabilities, setting new standards in speed, reliability and global connectivity.
In 1969, DHL began its journey by personally transporting important documents by air from San Francisco to Honolulu. What started as a simple idea quickly evolved into a worldwide logistics network. Over the decades, DHL steadily extended its services to customers across the globe, responding to the growing demands of international trade.
As global markets became increasingly complex, DHL adapted to meet the changing needs of its customers at both local and international levels. Today, DHL connects more than 220 countries and territories through an unmatched international network. The company delivers industry-leading solutions in express delivery, air and ocean freight, road transport, contract logistics and international mail services.
From 1969 to the present day, DHL has remained committed to one core principle: exceptional customer service. This dedication has positioned DHL as a trusted global brand known for personal commitment, proactive logistics solutions and strong local expertise.
The success of DHL is driven by its people. Its employees are focused on customer needs and deliver tailored solutions across diverse markets. In Sub-Saharan Africa alone, DHL Express employs over 3,500 Certified International Specialists, operates more than 1,250 vehicles, manages over 20 airside facilities, and runs 5 hubs supported by 15 dedicated aircraft. This powerful infrastructure reflects the unmistakable speed and performance of DHL — the speed of Yellow.
